Vitamin E is excellent for your skin. As we age, we lose elasticity in our skin and unless we take measures to prevent this from happening, we get discoloration, sun damage, fine lines, crow’s feet and wrinkles.
No one wants to look as old as we are. Once we get into our late 20’s and get closer to 30, it becomes apparent that our skin and hair begins to change more rapidly than we originally thought.

Vitamin E is excellent for our skin. It can be taken as a supplement or rubbed on outwardly. Your doctor may have told you to rub Vitamin E oil on scars and stretch marks in order to prevent or reduce their appearance.
Sun exposure is one of the main problems we have with our skin. If we eat a poor diet, drink too much, avoid exercising and smoke, our skin really shows it. It’s a combination of everything, really, but you can prevent damage now. The sooner you start protecting your skin, the better.
Vitamin E is a free-radical fighting antioxidant. It can help prevent skin damage due to sun exposure when used topically. Vitamin E is actually more effective for post-sun exposure rather than for pre-sun exposure/prevention.
If you apply Vitamin E oil up to eight hours after sun exposure, it can prevent inflammation and skin damage. Do not use it when you plan on being in the sun as Vitamin E exposed to ultraviolet light can produce free radicals.
You can also take Vitamin E supplements on a regular basis in order to help prevent sun damage from the inside out. Vitamin E supplements are proven to reduce photo damage and can keep skin healthier.
You can also get Vitamin E from eating Vitamin E rich foods, however, it is nearly impossible for you to get enough Vitamin E from eating food alone. If you are a smoker, you need between 100 and 400 mg of Vitamin E a day, whereas nonsmokers need between 60 and 100 mg. Foods rich in Vitamin E are wheat germ, spinach and sunflower seeds.
Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin, which exists in eight different forms. Vitamin E acts as a protectant of your cells against the effects of free radicals. Free-radicals are potentially damaging by-products of energy metabolism. They can damage cells and may contribute to the development of cardiovascular disease and cancer. Studies are currently being conducted to find out if Vitamin E may help to prevent or delay these illnesses and diseases.
