Acne can affect almost everyone at some time. There are many ways to eliminate acne from lotions to medications.
Acne is a condition that affects almost everyone at some time in their lives. According to the National Institutes of Health, nearly 85 percent of adolescents and young adults between the ages of 12 and 24 develop the disorder. And although it is most common among adolescents, some people continue to be affected into their forties and fifties.
The best way to prevent acne is go all-natural.
Essential oils, natural herbs, and natural nutrients are the best way to kill acne, so you can fight nature by using nature. Essential oils are higher powered and more effective than any acid or peroxide created in a lab that was derived from some natural source. They are extremely potent and not harmful to your skin. Furthermore, they actually help to balance sebum without making your skin oily.
There is a product on the market that has essential oils and kills acne. The makers claim that there stuff works overnight. It exfoliates and cleans your skin brilliantly.
Another step in eliminating acne is to consider taking flax oil on a regular basis. You need to keep your system clean. You don’t need to spend tons of money on vitamins; all you need to do is to flush your system of unnatural chemicals and preservatives that might be triggering your breakouts. You can buy flax oil anywhere.
Drink 8-10 glasses of water per day. This will flush your system from all impurities and toxins.
In using all the above, you can also use non-prescription treatments. Common over the counter treatments typically contain benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid, usually in a cream or gel. These medicines take about two to four weeks to work, but only clear the acne to a point, because they don’t address the source of the problem. They also need to be used continually to keep fighting the acne, and as a result some patients experience skin irritation, burning or redness.
If you are unsuccessful in the nonprescription treatments, you may be given antibiotics. Antibiotics in a topical form are often prescribed as an acne treatment. They work by clearing the skin of bacteria, but often cannot clear up the more deep-seated cases.
Oral antibiotics such as tetracycline and minocycline are more effective for severe cases of acne because they work systemically. However, they can cause such side effects as photosensitivity (higher risk of sunburn), upset stomach, dizziness and skin discoloration, and must be taken for as long as four to six months. A further drawback is that doctors are becoming more reluctant to prescribe antibiotics due to the increase in antibiotic resistance.
