If you are concerned about aging, wrinkles are probably top on your list. Some people find them appealing or claim that they add character, but the rest of us want to stay young and beautiful and wrinkles are a scary thought.
With all the skincare treatment systems out there and store-bought facial masks, some of the best treatments are found in your kitchen in the comfort of your home.
We can’t deny the wonder and effectiveness of remedies we find at home
Honey has been used for thousands of years as a natural skincare treatment. The Egyptians used it as a beauty aid. You have probably noticed that it is an ingredient in many store-bought facial masks. You can apply honey alone as a facial mask to your face and leave it sit for 20 minutes, rinsing away with warm water. This helps to smooth and moisturize your skin and can help reduce and prevent wrinkles naturally.
Another excellent ingredient for homemade skincare are avocados. Avocados have a high fat content, which make them an excellent base for facial masks. Here’s a recipe to try:
½ of an avocado
½ teaspoon of Vitamin E oil
1 tablespoon of plain yogurt
½ teaspoon of apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon of warm honey
Mix all ingredients together thoroughly and apply to your face, avoiding getting the mixture in your eyes, but paying close attention to the fine lines around your eyes and mouth. Allow to sit on your face for 20 minutes and rinse off thoroughly with warm water. Pat dry with a towel and apply a good moisturizer.
Here is another anti-wrinkle mask using honey:
1 ½ tablespoons of honey
½ teaspoon of carrot juice
a pinch of baking soda
warm water
cotton ball
Combine the honey and the carrot juice. Apply the mixture to the face and leave it to soak in for 20 minutes. Mix the pinch of baking soda with warm water. Dip a cotton ball into the water and baking soda mixture and use it to remove the honey and carrot mixture.
Apples are also very healthy for the skin. It can be especially invigorating to use an apple facial mask in the fall. Try removing the core and seeds from one apple and mashing the apple into a pliable pulp. Apply the apple pulp to your face and allow to soak in for 10 minutes. Wash your face thoroughly with cold water.
Another invigorating facial mask (best applied in the morning for a fresh start to the day) uses bananas and mint:
1 ripe banana
1 tablespoon of rosewater
1 teaspoon of fresh mint herb
1 teaspoon of warm honey
Mash up the banana into a pulp-like substance. Mix in the rosewater, warm honey and mint. Make sure the honey is not too hot. Apply by massaging into your face. The mint will exfoliate, the rosewater will tone and the honey and banana will moisturize. Allow to sit for 10 to 15 minutes and then rinse off thoroughly with warm water. This is a very fun facial treatment, but make sure you keep it out of your eyes or it may irritate.
