We often times try to take care of our bodies, which may include watching our weight and skincare, but we sometimes forget about our necks and what the world sees when they are looking at us.
The first step to sporting a younger looking neck is to implement the same beauty routine you do for your face on your neck too. Women who take care of their face, but not their neck may eventually have a gorgeous facial skin, but an atrocious neck!
The skin on your neck is very thin and can easily become damaged with sun exposure
If your hair is shorter, you should be aware that any exposed skin may become damaged from the sun. That being said, you need to be putting sunscreen on your neck along with any other part of your body which is exposed to the sun.
When we gain weight, we do gain weight in our neck too, so if you lose weight, you may notice a reduction in “neck flab”. In fact, people tend to lose weight in their faces and necks first.
If you are noticing a flabby chin or thick neck, there are facial exercises you can do in order to tone and smooth out the skin there. It’s a good idea to perform these exercises every day regardless of your weight, because eventually the skin under your chin and on your neck may become stretched out and flabby with age.
When you’re applying your daily moisturizer, massage it into your neck in an upward motion. Avoid pulling or pushing the skin with your fingers. This action helps to stimulate the blood and circulation, which will also help with the overall appearance of these areas.
Avoid sleeping on a pillow which pushes your head up and stretches your neck awkwardly. Often times, people are sleeping with too much of a strain on their neck and shoulders. Time will eventually take its toll from this type of sleep position.
Your posture also has a lot to do with the way your neck looks and feels. Standing and sitting with a straight back and your shoulders back not only keeps your neck and facial muscles toned, but also gives you a more youthful appearance in general.
You may have noticed that you appear to have a double chin in certain photographs. You may not actually have a double chin, but instead, it was the angle you were holding your face. Often times, photographers will tell you to angle your face downward for a better look. These same principles apply to your everyday life. If you look like you have a double chin in certain photos, imagine how you look in person.
