You’ve probably heard of worry lines. If you have, then it probably makes sense to you that worry lines or stress is a cause of wrinkles. After all, when you are stressed, so is your body and when your body is stressed, it shows on your skin.
One of the reasons smokers age faster is because of the facial expressions they’re making while they are smoking. A lot of it has to do with the damage the tobacco is having on their skin and the constant heat from the cigarettes, but it’s also because of what they’re doing with their mouths and faces as they smoke.
We all know what smile and laugh lines are, but do we know how many of our wrinkles and fine lines are from stress
First of all, when we are constantly stressed, we may possibly be damaging our immune systems. You may notice that in times of stress, your overall health may decline. Whether or not the poor health is physical or mental, we can’t deny that being stressed puts us in the position of not feeling well.
When we’re stressed out, some of us feel it in our tummies. Some of us run to the bathroom every five minutes and suffer from uncontrollable diarrhea, where as others become constipated or even vomit from stress.
Sometimes the stress doesn’t affect us like that, but it affects us other ways. Eventually, the stress affects us in a way that shows on our skin. Because of this fact, it’s very important that we learn to manage our stress properly.
The truth of the matter is we all have stress. Even if we appear to have everything, happiness can be stressful too. My mother referred to those times as “happy stresses”. Any change is stressful, no matter how exciting and sought after it is. A good example of a happy stress is getting married. If you’re getting married, the odds that you are excited at the prospect of being a bride or groom promote happy thoughts and overall wellbeing, but it’s still stressful. It’s a lifestyle change that is stressful no matter how happy we are about it.
The key to dealing with stress if learning proper stress management. You cannot always make stress go away. Sometimes things are out of our control. What you can do is learn to deal with and manage your stress appropriately and without causing further stress on yourself.
It’s important to calm down and deal with the stresses and fights you can deal with; the ones that are worth fighting for. Sometimes people get so worked up over the tiniest things and all it does is create further stress that shows on our faces. You can learn to manage your stress and fight the fights that are worth fighting, rather than wasting your time and energy on an endless battle. Is it really worth getting so worked up over another driver on the road? What about that soccer mom in line at the supermarket? The answer is that it probably isn’t worth it. Learn to properly manage your stress and try not to get too worked up over silly stuff that has no bearing on your day-to-day life.
