If you’re planning on taking care of your skin at the first signs of wrinkles, you’re planning on waiting too long! Proper wrinkle prevention starts early, not later.
Often times, we plow ahead through life without a care in the world and then suddenly we wake up one morning and take a look in the mirror only to realize that we’ve aged…a lot.
Don’t let the signs of aging sneak up on you!
You don’t have to wait until you look older to start doing something about it. Prevention starts early. In fact, prevention starts as soon as we’re out of puberty.
Wrinkle damage can start as early as our early 20’s. That means you need to start taking good care of your skin now. Taking good care of your skin means staying well-hydrated and making sure you get at least six to eight glasses of water a day as well as following a smart daily skin regimen.
You need to be cleansing, toning, exfoliating and moisturizing your skin twice a day. If you wear makeup, you need to take these steps in the morning before applying your makeup. Make sure you’re using foundation that has SPF protection in it. At the end of the day, make sure you’re washing your makeup off, using the same skincare regimen you implemented earlier in the day. If you’re planning on spending any time in the sun, make sure you are wearing proper protection, which may include additional SPF protection, a hat, etc.
Smoking and drinking are bad for wrinkles. Avoid squinting and use daily facial and neck exercises. Facial and neck exercises can help to strengthen and tone your skin and are very important in wrinkle prevention.
Avoid sleeping with your face pressed into a pillow and do not use cotton pillowcases. Use satin or silk pillowcases instead. Learn stress management as stress is one major cause of facial wrinkles. You can also utilize acupressure and acupuncture as well as facial massage to help reduce and prevent wrinkles.
Watch your diet and make sure you’re eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, which are stocked full of good things for your skin. Vitamin E is also excellent for your skin and can be taken internally as well as rubbed on your skin to help prevent and reduce wrinkles. Use self tanners if you are concerned about your skin being too pale.
Getting enough sleep is also very important for wrinkle prevention. Lack of sleep creates a great deal of stress on your face and overall body and can create additional wrinkles.
