The Damaging Effects Of The Sun To Your Skin And How You Can Prevent It

Did you know that you can be damaging your skin and be getting wrinkles on days when the sun isn’t even visible? Even if you’re sitting in your car on a cloudy day, the sun can damage your skin.

Most people don’t mind getting older as long as they stay young-looking!  Unfortunately, that’s just not a very realistic way to look at life.  The truth of the matter is, if we don’t take care of ourselves, our skin and bodies show it and then it may be too late.

The best thing we can do about wrinkles is to avoid getting them to start with, rather than trying to get rid of them once we have them

The UV rays of the sun can be very damaging to your skin.  They damage your skin because they dry it out, so one thing you can do to prevent wrinkles due to sun damage is to keep your face moisturized and your body well-hydrated.

The UV rays of the sun also produce free radicals, which be damaging to your skin, but also damaging to your body all the way around.  Cancer and disease are a result of free radical damage.

Spending some time in the sun is very important; maybe even more important than you think.  Getting some sun exposure allows your body to take in much-needed Vitamin D.  If we don’t get enough Vitamin D, our immune system may suffer and we may experience feelings of depression.  Fortunately, you only need 15 to 20 minutes of sun exposure a day a few months out of the year in order for it to benefit you.

Beyond that and you may be getting too much sun exposure.  If you are concerned about the shade of your skin, consider using a safe self-tanner.  Exposures to tanning booths are not good for your skin either.

Vitamin E is excellent for your skin, so look for skin products that contain it.  Make sure you are taking proper care of your skin twice a day and that you are not going to bed wearing makeup if you are a makeup wearer.  You should be cleansing, toning, exfoliating and moisturizing your skin each morning when you start out your day and at night before bed.  Remember to be using the same skincare regiment on your neck, avoiding pulling or pushing the delicate neck skin with your fingers.  Manufacturers such as Mary Kay and Avon also offer skincare lines for hands.  Wear protective hats and sunscreen on all exposed body parts whenever possible.
